About Katter Development Company
The strength of any company can be found in its people. Katter Development’s reputation has been built on the foundation of the partners and their combined 45 years of experience in the real estate industry. Founder and CEO Kent Katter became interested in real estate development in 1990 while working for his father-in law, Alvin Benjamin. While at the Benjamin Organization, Katter worked on several of Long Island’s premier developments and eventually partnered with Benjamin on a 223-unit multi-generational townhouse community named Islip Landing. During his career, Katter has worked in all aspects of real estate development and construction—from framing roofs and building cabinets to negotiating land contracts and overseeing permitting and planning. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Long Island Builders Institute, an association dedicated to providing local quality-built homes.
